If you are not yet diagnosed with HEDS/HSD, POTS, or MCAS but think you have them, we gather what you have already done, investigate any remaining areas, determine best fit diagnoses, and provide ongoing management.

If you already have diagnoses of HEDS/HSD, POTS, MCAS and other related disorders we investigate connections, work you on complex chronic medication management, coordinate your healthcare team, and determine the best treatments for each issue.

We complete expert results-oriented evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of hypermobility and the associated disorders WHILE working toward HEDS/JHS diagnosis. A true diagnosis involves in depth labs, images, and genetic testing. EDS exists on a spectrum and has substantial overlap with other rare diagnoses. This is why it is a diagnosis of exclusion.  

We feel HEDS is a 1 in 250-500 person diagnosis (not 1 in multiple thousand as internet searches say). While the diagnosis checklist for HEDS appears simple, it requires investigation as there are many similar appearing zebra diagnoses.

We will see you for Hypermobility, HEDS/HSD, and everything in-between. There is huge overlap in complexity with these diagnoses and none can be looked at strictly in isolation. You want to feel better but it is hard when no one seems to believe you or understand your bendy body. 

We recognize the limitations of medical licenses and where people are physically located. You must be in a state of our licensure to be a client of The EDS Clinic. We will have more state options in late 2024 after we have trained additional Medical Detectives. Currently, we care for clients in WA, OR, and NV.

If you are already diagnosed with Hypermobility, but think you have EDS we can determine the difference, order any tests or images needed, and resolve all the questions in your head.

Being a client at The EDS Clinic is an investment in yourself. 

We do not take insurance. But we do have sliding scale (HERE) and monthly installment plans. We provide superbills when requested.

Telemedicine means in any state we have a license in we can see you virtually for a visit. Currently these are in Washington state, Nevada, and Oregon. You have to physically be located in a state where our providers are licensed. Government rules, not ours.

It is a virtual visit over video for Hypermobility, HEDS/HSD, POTS, MCAS and the related disorders. Simple as that! For most Hypermobile/EDS appointments there is no need to prove yourself by having pain triggered by a physical assessment. We are successful at Beighton scoring over video, as well as evaluating the many other areas that can lead to formal HEDS diagnosis. While it can be validating to be seen in-person, it is not critical. With other specialties like ortho, it is important to be seen in-person.

When you begin to work with us you receive immediate validation and investigation. 

Typically within 60 days you have less baseline pain and symptom flares. We work to decrease fatigue and see this around 90 days.  

We get results by using your short and long term goals. By stair stepping through accomplishing short term goals we are able to continually fine tune them for the long term goals. Goals include physical comfort, emotional well being with measurable activities. The work of the program is deliberately high-touch with accountability. 

Examples: 

Currently, your hips and knees do not tolerate the flight of stairs in your home. Short term you’d love to be able to go on a walk in the forest with a friend and long term you’d like to go to Scotland to walk around the castles. 

Currently, sciatica and neck pain keep you from sitting comfortably. Short term you’d love to sit on the floor to play with your friend’s kids and long term you’d love to have kids of your own and take them on a fun outing with them without calculating the physical or energy drain.

Currently, you barely make it out of bed from fatigue and dizziness. Short term you’d like to go out with your partner to a new restaurant and then a movie, and long term you’d like to go boating with friends in the summer.

Currently, you never go out to eat because you have to know where every bathroom is between home and the next stop. Short term you’d like to try a new restaurant, and long term you’d like to go to Spain, explore, and eat delicious food.

Results vary with the complexity and effort put into our work together. Clients who see and feel improvement working with us are motivated, have a degree of hope, and are ready to overhaul their chronic lives.
